چکیده

This study was design to evaluate the efficacy of cataract surgery with simultaneous intravitreal bevacizumab injection for wet age-related macular degeneration. Of patients who underwent anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections, performed in 24 eyes (control group), and 27 (bevacizumab group). Best corrected visual acuity, ocular tonometry, anterior chamber inflammation, central subfield thickness were measured at baseline 1 week, month, 3 months, 6 months after surgery. The mean increased month postoperatively control group (<i>p</i> = 0.02), whereas there no significant change group. When preoperative postoperative differences between two groups compared each time point, best acuity improved 0.045), more decreased that 0.032). Additional 1.56 ± 2.05 2.52 2.01 groups, respectively 0.047). Simultaneous is considered an effective treatment since it reduces short term, can delay timing additional injections

Intravitreal Bevacizumab Injection Effect in Exudative Age Related Macular Degeneration

Visual abilities of human eyes acts as means of complex optical and receiver system. The retinal tissue is a highly organized structure, capable of processing visual information to the brain via the optic nerve. Cone and rod photoreceptors turn into the optic nerve impulse. Photoreceptors are located in such a way that the cone cells are dense in the macula [1,2]. Age-related macular degenerati...

Intravitreal bevacizumab for the management of age-related macular degeneration.

The aim of this study is to report short-term effect of the treatment of "wet" ARMD (age-related macular degeneration) with intravitreal bevacizumab (Avastin). Prospective study included 36 patients (36 eyes) with "wet' form of ARMD. All patients were over 60 year old (22 female, 14 male). Changes of macula included minimally classic CNV (choroidal neovascularisation) (24), occult subfoveal CNV...

Macular Hole Formation After Intravitreal Ranibizumab Injection in Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

Ranibizumab is a monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits angiogenesis by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor A, used as a treatment for patients with wet aged-related macular degeneration (ARMD). Adverse effects from intravitreal Ranibizumab injections are well recognised. Macular hole formation following Ranibizumab injection is a complication that has been recently reported in fe...

Macular Hole following Intravitreal Bevacizumab Injection in Choroidal Neovascularization Caused by Age-Related Macular Degeneration

This report describes formation of a full-thickness macular hole subsequent to an injection of bevacizumab for the treatment of neovascular AMD. This complication may be caused by focal tractional forces on the retinal surface due to either vitreous incarceration at the injection site or contraction of the choroidal neovascularization membrane. Alternatively, it may be due to a toxic effect of ...
